Acts 4:13 – Now when the men of the Sanhedrin (Jewish High Court) saw the confidence and boldness of Peter and John, and grasped the fact that they were [a]uneducated and untrained [ordinary] men, they were astounded, and began to recognize that they had been with Jesus.
Life is all about perspectives. I heard a story about two prisoners who were in the same cell; one looked down and saw the dingy, wet floor while the other looked up and saw a clear blue sky with beautiful white clouds. Needless to say that the one who looked down was all grouchy about life.
Often times we forget that life is a journey. You think about a typical journey you plan to undertake, how do you go about it? Well, the truth is that the way we plan for travels differ. One sure thing is that there must be some movement from where you are to the travel destination. What informs your travel process is your perspective to things. For example, I do my packing gradually. I start packing two weeks before travel day so that I can have time to remember things or change my mind. This is in addition to my checklist. Another person may be satisfied with just the checklist and another may choose to pack on or a day before travel day. We do what suits, based on traditions, norms and practices we have been used to, but there’s always a better way.
My question is: what is your perspective to life? Who and what informs your view? How do you see the phases of your life? How do those phases affect you? The disciples were not trained rabbis, but they had a message to share and they went ahead (Mark 16:15). Their action was shaped by their perspective. Their perspective was influenced by Jesus’ words and acts. They were confident and bold, even though untrained because this was what Jesus kept telling them (Luke 18:27).
God is interested in your perspective. In fact, He wants to inform and influence your perspective. God’s perspective is positive in all. Why? Because He’s omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. There’s just no way you involve Him in your life that your perspective won’t be empowered. God bless you!
